Dog Poll Criticism

Hope Castanet is open to a little criticism of the daily poll.

Would you shoot too? Come on Castanet.....

This is not a question that can be properly answered in the perspective in which it is asked.

None of the people who are likely respond in this public forum are likely to have, or share, their firsthand knowledge of the particular circumstances surrounding yet another shooting incident.

If the question is "Would I use force to end an ongoing violent attack against a member of my family or community if no other option was immediately available?" I suspect the vast majority of people would respond "yes", if in their immediate judgment this was the only means to end the threat.

Just remember, once the bullet leaves the muzzle nobody has yet been able to suck it back up the gun's barrel. Use of deadly force has deadly and far reaching and permanent consequences. Force escalates force. Common sense is to avoid violent confrontation if at all possible.

Fresh in our memories is the recent loss of 4 RCMP Police officers. I wonder what they thought before they died and how they responded? Maybe they should have responded quicker, maybe they never had a chance. I cannot imagine anybody wanting to be in a situation where they have to make a choice like this.

Until the true facts of any case are brought out in a court of law speculation is just that, speculation.

-S.O.
