Last night I watched the CHBC news, in particular the story on Penticton's "Baggage Handler" statue.
I was shocked as I have watched the story develop over the last few
weeks, as the citizens of Penticton damaged this wonderful piece.
Now the artist has removed the "baggage handler" for repairs caused by
the citizens of Penticton.
The artist has asked the city to cover the costs of repair. That seems very fair to me. Instead the mayor of Penticton has gone on TV and publicly attacked the artist for his lack of community spirit.
How incredibly small-town can this whole story become? Personally I would love to see the "Baggage Handler" here in Kelowna, hosted at the Art Gallery or perhaps to replace the "Dolphins" which in turn could be shipped to Penticton, or even a town where Dolphins exist.
