We would like to take this opportunity to say thank you to all those
wonderful people that assisted us after our serious crash on the Coquihalla Connector Sunday evening, Feb 20.
Driving on bare roads, we came around a bend into black ice -- and rolled down a 15 ft embankment. Within minutes people were there to help us, and eventually pry the driver’s door open to get us out of my truck 20 minutes later. They stayed with us until the ambulances arrived, and formed human chains to get us up the embankment.
We will always be grateful to every single one of you.
Thank you to the staff at KGH for looking after us. The care on a busy night was thoughtful and uplifting.
I do find it ironic to be writing this while reading the story of a Kelowna man killed, and another seriously injured the next night in a rollover accident...all because they were not wearing seatbelts. What makes this even more difficult is that I know the person still in hospital.
We did multiple rollovers after hitting black ice at 100 km/h and going
down a 15ft embankment.....and we basically WALKED AWAY from the accident. Other than feeling beat up, bruised, and very sore, we are going to be fine.
What is it that makes people not want to wear seatbelts? I just can't
fathom the logic behind that.
Sincerely
Bill Long
