I realize people are entitled to their opinions. However, I too have my own opinion about the distribution of Gideon Bibles in public schools.
I received a Gideon Bible in grade 5, and have continued to read the entire Bible for over 40 years, and have only grown to love and respect its truths on genuine love, joy, peace, and hope, which is the foundation for the whole text.
I find the comment perplexing that the Bible promotes murder and rape. This simply is not true. Truly, there is blood shed, as Christ Jesus shed his own sacrificial blood for the sins of the world, to make a way back to a Holy and just God.
Christianity offers children a rich education in world history, truths about making healthy choices and a hope that never changes. Sounds like good news to me. We do a disservice to our entire society by rejecting God, and keeping Gideon Bibles away from children.
