Road rules apply

Re: Knox Mountain reopens to vehicle traffic

I would just like to raise awareness in regards to road etiquette, now that Knox Mountain is open to vehicles.

My family and I were driving down the hill when we came behind two women, walking in the middle of the road. We slowed down, moved over as far as we could, but we are in a full size truck and obviously the Knox road is fairly narrow.

These two ladies refused to move over to the side of the road where a walking foot path has been made. Instead, they chose to take a picture of our vehicle and give us dirty looks and the finger while continuing to walk in the middle of the road.

We continued on and made our way to the bottom of the hill, passing at least fifty other walkers, hikers etc. with no problem as they all had the courtesy to move to the side of the road and let us pass safely. At the bottom of the hill we were again approached and reprimanded by these two women.

Now, I fully understand that hikers, bikers and vehicles share Knox Mountain.

However, it seems that some people need to be reminded that now that the road is open to vehicles, road rules apply.

There are plenty of trails available to hikers and walkers that allow people to enjoy Knox without having to be on the road.

If you are on the road, realize that vehicles need that road to go up and down the mountain and kindly move as far to the side as possible to ensure everyone can pass safely.

If you are driving, slow down and move as far over as possible to ensure you pass people safely.
