Left turns are scary

I am finally writing this letter not only to voice my concern but also to make people aware what they are doing is deadly.

How many close calls have you had while trying to turn left at an intersection?

Ever wonder if that person was honking because of something you are not supposed to be doing? (yes that probably was me)

Well this is getting worse and making our streets dangerous. Over and over again I see people either ignore the yellow light completely or speed up when they clearly must slow down.

There is no reason or excuse for this to be happening and people are getting hurt and dying because of it. What is it going to take for you to stop doing this?

Someone you know getting hurt, or you being the one hurting an innocent person? To my knowledge there have been no recent changes in the “rules of the road” that made it legal to speed through a yellow light.

Do we need the police to sit at intersections and give out tickets to all these ignorant drivers?

More extreme fines have been created for drinking so maybe there should be bigger fines for this as well, then people will think twice before pressing on the gas pedal instead of the brake pedal.

Of course the most wise and practical way to resolve this problem is to slow down and drive responsibly.
