To the editor:
Once again the city administrators cater to those with means, and leave those that require service on the side of the road.
Start with the addition of bus service to Quail Ridge, good for them, but what is stopping them from walking down to the highway? Our children are expected to walk up to 4 kilometres to school for goodness sake.
Why such an upper-class area, and cut out the #9 from those with mobility issues. And I know that I won't be using the bus to the H2O, I can barely afford the bus, and supporting my family, let alone a tourist and elite play place.
As I go on, I can hear the muttering of "If you can't afford to live here, Why are you here?" Well, if all of us that truly cannot afford to live in this city left, who would fill your coffee cup in the morning, ask for your order at the drive-thru, ring your groceries up at the till.
There is already such a lack of service for transit in Kelowna, expansion would be expected with the growth that the city has had, not cuts.
Besides looking at dollars and cents, were those that actually drive the routes consulted and their thoughts considered as how the public could best be served? It seems like someone is sitting in an office with a census map of salary breakdown by neighbourhood and putting money down where money is.
