I am writing in regards to the column about "Local Seniors Terrorized". I don't think it fair of those seniors who accused some child of what happened to their recreational vehicles. I live in the Ingram Complex right next to the neighboring apartments. I woke up around 4:13 am when the fire was at its biggest. As I looked out my back patio door, the flames were roaring and reached high in the sky, I was scared because it looked so close to my place.
My husband and I have been living in this complex for 6 years now. Sure there are bratty children here, and I know they can be annoying at times but to accuse small children like that is just plain ignorant. The elderly people don't know what really happened or who did it. That does not give them the right to start accusing our complex just because it is a Native Complex. If they want to accuse someone, why don't they look at themselves, what if one of the elderly people living there started it for insurance reasons.
Nobody knows, there could be a number of reasons. I just don't think it is fair that the elderly people in the neighboring apartments are labeling us. I can turn around and start saying, "I don't walk near those apartment buildings because I'm scared of some old pervert watching me, or I keep my back blinds closed all the time because of those snoppy old people".
But I don't say that because I don't know them and I don't label or accuse people like that especially to a news person. I don't see any reports on the news about what our complex has to say about the accusations. On the video the lady owner of the RV was saying "there has been numerous vandalism, such as pulling flowers out, throwing water balloons, roots anything". Ok from throwing sticks and rocks to starting a huge fire at 4:00 in the morning is a little much.
Just because they are native children does not mean they stay up all night like vampires, they do go to school, no child at that age is going to wake up 4:00am in the morning to start a huge fire like that. The pictures that are posted on your web site show no kind of criminal activity. How do I know if the man who took those pictures was a pedophile? I don't know that. Why does he have picture of the children living in this complex. I don't think I want my 5 year old daughter or 7 year old son to play outside anymore, I don't want someone taking pictures of my child, now I don't feel safe! I also don't feel safe on this side of Westbank. It is not because of living in this complex. It is because of the all the robberies that have been happening in Westbank and having local pubs and a liquor store close by.
