Marriage Who Owns It!

When it comes to an issue like gay marriage, either for or against, I think people are losing site of what it is they are fighting for. Ownership! Of a word that can not be owned. At the end of the day “marriage” is a word, and it is a person’s connection to a word that ultimately defines it. It is our freedom to define it on a personal level and to commit our lives to it.

Once a person has defined what a word means to them, it can not be extirpated. As with many word’s that are defined by a person’s personal point of view, marriage is a word that has no ownership. If you begin to consider other words without ownership words as in God, Religion, Government, Happiness, Love you may see a connection to our willingness, to society’s willingness, not to deny a person’s affiliation to it especially if that affiliation is without harm to themselves or to each other and even if that affiliation is different from our own.

We already live in a world that shares many perceptions on every subject perhaps we should consider and accept that marriage, like beauty, is in the eye of the beholder.
