Can't Believe Changes

It is funny. I have lived here for 27 years. It is hard to believe the changes. Changes per say on how people care and treat others. It seems once there were wealthy jobs here.

Who cares about anything else. If you are not part of the $$ bracket that they make, You are nothing it seems. If anyone has been in Kelowna this long or less probably understand what I mean.

On the homeless subject. All these rich people say get a job or go home. I have personally talked to a few and as another reader said, some want to live on the streets or something bad happened.

If the government does shut down crossroads or phoenix. That is sad.

There should be a program that gives the homeless a option to go to detox, go to Kiwanis and get better. With random drug screenings. For the ones who want to get off the street. Nothing we can do for the others. When I was in Phoenix in 2003 I was talking to the counselor there.
She said yes they get a lot of homeless people in the winter & they try to keep them warm as long as they can. If we shun away problems, that just makes it worse. Common sense.

I bet some of these rich folks that send letters here with no sympathy. They probably could not even last 2 days in the cold or under a light post. Hell even living on the streets.

The people that do care have to start taking action. Don't let high society take that away. It just will ruin our once great town. Police should do more crackdown on known drug houses too. Make the drugs harder to get.

Good luck Kelowna

D.T.
