RE: Snelson guilty of manslaughter

After more than 18 years, the Cusworth family gets some much needed and deserved closure. A verdict of manslaughter for Neil Snelson means that the jury found him guilty of the crime but he lacked the intent so he is spared in some sense.

Here's the kicker though. Depending on the sentence, he may serve very little additional time because he has been in jail for 2 years and our system allows for double credit for time served, he could almost be done.

I wholeheartedly support the jury's decision but I'm afraid that the Cusworth family may be in for more pain if Mr. Snelson walks free very soon.

Manslaughter, as I understand it is punishable by a minimum of 4 years to life and because of the 2 for 1 deal we offer criminals here, well, you do the math.

I can’t imagine the pain that Mr. and Mrs. Cusworth will have to endure if this plays out.
