Drivers Perspective

I am writing in regards to the readers that are having problems with the highways contractors. I work for one of them as a shift foreman and senior equipment operator. As for the fellow that plowed snow and ice over the cars in the parking lot well that is a unfortunate incident and surely it will not happen again. When we sand a road we DO NOT just sand the middle of the road, the wind from the passing traffic will blow it towards the middle and that is were it will stay till it is plowed with the next snow fall.

There has been times when I have sanded a piece of highway then turned around to go back and it did look like it had not been sanded at all because of this. Before I started working here I was a highway driver and I would cuss those dam plow drivers just like every one else.

Then get behind the wheel of a plow truck and your eyes are opened. We are out in the worst possible conditions, dealing with traffic that is traveling way too fast for the best summer weather never mind snow and ice, ever changing road conditions, it will be wet roads one minute then black ice the next, just for one example.

And WHERE ARE THOSE DAM PLOW TRUCKS!! Not to make any excuses we can't be everywhere at once. So please drive to the road conditions and next time you see one of us give us a FRIENDLY wave. We are doing the best we can. Thanks, your snow plow driver.

P.S. Sorry for putting snow in your driveway

S.S.
