Once again society has shown it's evil side. Where is the humanity shown to the victims of the Rutland fire? Shame on those people who are so ready to judge and condemn when they have no history of the family and it's economic or emotional situation!!! I have been a single Mom of two and life is not easy raising children alone. I was fortunate to have an education, a job, and live in a middle-class community.
I feel for the Mother who must tend to three curious teenagers as well as find work to support the family. It is a difficult task! Insurance premiums are a perk for those who can afford the extra payments above and beyond shelter and food. Yes, I agree cigarettes are expensive but children find a means to get them and it may be a one-time activity that went wrong. It is amazing how we can criticize those who have less and do not take from the giant pot of insurance dollars.
Yet after the Kelowna fire, support was given freely from the public to those who have more money than they know what to do with, and then these families were able to turn around and spend insurance dollars to build bigger and better mansions. Life is not fair and we should be sharing without question what resources are available with all our fellow men. Merry Christmas!
