The Christmas spirit is alive and well in the Mission area of Kelowna. My
family for the past few years has driven around town looking at light
displays. This year we decided to go on the Twinkle Tour Bus. All the
displays we have seen were fantastic.
How ever there is one on Lakeshore Rd that deserves to be put in a class on its own. This house is awesome but what puts it over the top is that they have a live Santa that waves to each and every car and person that goes past. He is out there in all kinds of weather spreading Christmas cheer handing out candy canes to any one who wants one.
The house is collecting food donations for local charities. At the end of the tour we as a family made the trip back to the house with a donation. In talking to Santa we found out he does all this by himself. When asked why the reason became obvious. As a young girl and her family stopped, he(Santa) spent about ten minutes with her, she had her picture taken with him, listened to her wish list, gave her a candy cane and as they were leaving she gave a donation.
Once they left I commented how he was doing such a wonderful job and his response was to say thank you but that it wasn't about him, it was about the kids and the others less fortunate. It was his way of giving back to a community he loves so much. So to you Santa, thank you for letting us share in your Christmas spirit. We hope all readers would stop by this house to let him know how much we need people like him at this time of year.
