Senate has killed many Bills

RE:Another bad move by Harper

I'm afraid Mr. West is wrong when he stated that the Senate has never before killed a Bill that had been passed by Parliament. That is the ENTIRE purpose of the Senate, a sober second thought, as it were. The Senate has killed off many laws over the years and opposition bills are often the ones that get killed off the quickest.

Mr. Harper has gone on record many times that he wants a Triple E Senate, but the other parties have blocked every attempt to reform the Senate. Mr. West complains that Mr. Harper has used his "friends" to control the Senate. Mr. Harper has appointed 34 Senators during his time in office. A paltry number compared to the 74 Chretien appointed or the 81 Trudeau stacked into the rafters in order to pass some of the worst laws Canada has.

I hope everyone is outraged by this, however. For if we get outraged enough, then we can probably move forward and reform the Senate to make them responsible to us, the voters, instead of the PMO's office.
