RE:Where is the courtesy?
It is sad to say rudeness and lack of courtesy aren't found only on our road ways. I was in the post office the other day with my young son. The fellow in front of us was attempting to pick up a parcel. The clerk explained he couldn't pick it up until after 1 the next day - instead of saying 'oh, ok I didn't see that on the notice' - he became rude and swore at her. She politely asked him to watch his mouth. His response "why - what's going to happen?" Again she was polite and said "because there are children present." Instead of leaving it alone - he turned, glanced at us and said "or what".
I felt bad for the clerk who had to endure such rudeness. All could have been avoided, if this fellow had read his notice fully. Upon leaving - my son asked "mom, what was the matter with that man?" A very good question - when trying to raise an understanding, compassionate and respectful child. As I thoughtfully came up with an answer - I did wonder, is something going on in his life that would lead him to behave in such a way or was he just plain rude?
