RE:Responsible dog owners allowed
First of all I would like to say that Carla Irvine's letter about the Lavington park was well worded and I am in full agreement with her comments.
However in all fairness I think a couple of oversights should be mentioned as both myself and my wife attended the event at the park which was sponsored by a local dog club.
These dog shows are always well organized and the rules though not posted are always followed. These include dog training and grooming along with pedigree etc. and are all important parts of the show.
I can honestly say that the whole day that we were there we did not see one dog that was not on a lease, there were a number of commercial booths and many vehicles parked in an orderly fashion throughout the park. It was quite obviously a well organized event and not what one would expect to find on the average day.
Contrary to Kelowna's policy of closing the parks for events and allowing the charging of entrance fees, for this event the entrance to the park was not restricted and the financial needs of the club were covered in various ways by the dog club members.
I should mention we do not belong to a dog club and neither do we own a dog.
