Harper-worthy issue deflection

RE:Queen should pay own way

While I agree with some of the points being made by Mr. Barron, I think his focus is grossly in the wrong place.

Our federal government just spent well over 1.2 billion dollars (almost 350 Queen visits) to provide chaperone's and bodyguards to hundreds of "dignitaries" and their entourages -- most who have far less to do with Canada than the Queen -- so they could feel safe attending an "invite only party" on our dime.

Not to mention dumping absurd amounts of money into Conservative ridings in the area in an attempt to buy votes for embattled MP's (read: Tony Clement.

Meanwhile, downtown Toronto is being trashed and the Conservatives have already stated that damages to businesses aren't their problem.

Something is not right with that.

Yet here we have a complaint about a "mere" 3 million to host the Queen for week.

That is issue deflection worthy of Harper himself -- maybe he'll build you an indoor lake.
