City Has Excellent Restrictions

Its obvious that most of the people complaining haven't visited the southern towns on Hwy 97! Oliver to the border.

As I drive past everyday I see dozens of smoke piles of orchard wood, leaves and other unknown debris. The farmers have free reign, they seem to burn anytime of any day, as it smolders for days and weeks all along Hwy 97. I am sure they burn farther up the valley, I can't see those piles as I am trying to drive in my lane and not run over the children that are coming home from school! I need to bring a wet towel or better yet a gas mask one of these days, but I am hoping it will stop sooner than later. This has been going on since early fall, after the weather changed and forest fire risks went to a low. Boy do I feel sorry for the residents who live there!!!

So as you can see, we who live in Kelowna are very fortunate. We have excellent restrictions that the city has enforced, to protect the asthmatic, worry warts and others, with fears of our houses burning down.

We have a great bunch of men/women who burn the piles of burned logs caused by that horrendous forest fire two summers ago, making sure nothing goes wrong. Did you happen to notice the piles up the mountains are burned quickly? They know that Kelowna has a few residents who are worried about the city burning up again! They do have compassion for you. But cut them some slack, enjoy life, let them get it over with quickly so the piles don't ignite in the summer by itself or some jokester who wants to get a reaction out of you.

I know a few who had their homes burned down, they managed to move forward, had their homes rebuilt, some sold their homes, others moved into a now beautiful new home, they had nightmares like yourself, their children also. If you are still to this day, two years later, suffering from anxiety, maybe you should seek some form of counseling. I am surprised they didn't offer it to you at the beginning, when you found out the house went up in flames! Come on, wake up tomorrow happy, full of life, hug your kids, tell them its a beautiful day! Do something positive, maybe go for a walk so you can appreciate what you do have. Be glad you aren't one of the few who had no insurance or who had too little!

Don't worry, be happy!!!!!!

Live life, as if you don't have tomorrow...you will be surprised how you change to be a happier, less fearful person. Good luck!

P.A. and family
