Constable Aselton,
I think it is disrespectful for correspondence to be sent to you using the slang "cop" As a member of the RCMP, it is your right and responsibility to be addressed respectfully. While I appreciate part of the RCMP community service motive might be to enhance a positive image of the RCMP, it should not be at the cost of degrading our federal police force.
By agreeing to accept correspondence disrespectfully you are compromising your image. This is not the first time I have challenged Castanet who seem to think it is cute or folksy to demean our law enforcement. Some how Castanet thinks this connects them with customers on some obscure level.
Perhaps they think all of their customers are of low intellect or perhaps are border line felons. What ever it is I don't think it is working for them and they should assist the RCMP in presenting a positive image to their community.
D.H.
