To the editor:
I sent a letter to Festival's Kelowna in response to the story regarding the group who are from Brazil, playing their percussion instruments on the street and had other musicians join in. They were told that they were too loud for the street and they had to shut down because someone complained it was too loud.
Well, the great number of three complained, or so the story says. The group says that there were a lot more than three people (100) who all came to listen.
Good grief, it was outside, where there is tons of space to fill with sound. They had a license from Festivals Kelowna to perform there, then they get told to shut down, and in future they are allowed only three people in a group to play.
Do we need to kill everything and isn't it nicer if there were a few more people join in? People are having some fun, which apparently Kelowna is telling everyone "there is to be no fun in this city."
As I said in the letter, this city will be lucky if we get any other talent coming here at this rate, who wants to spend money to come here and then get told this.
We might as well all sit in our rockers and twiddle our thumbs but wait, maybe someone might snap their fingers in the process, or even whistle. Heaven forbid.
