I was just at the Kelowna Courthouse to hand in some papers and was literally amazed at what I heard. It was between 12 pm and 1 pm and I was there on my lunch and there was a woman in front of me speaking with the only woman available at the desk about the fact that she could not pay her ticket as there was no debit machine access between 12 and 1 o'clock.
Needless to say this women was quite upset and rightfully so. She had taken the time on her lunch hour to pay her ticket only to be told she could not use her debit card. After she said her piece and left I kind of muttered to myself "gee I did not know one needed an education to work a debit machine" The women behind the counter responded that "that was not the case it was because she was not a cashier"!!!!!!!
I could not believe it. So in other words it has to do with not being able to perform someone else's job due to what???..."union guidelines"???
Then I read a sign behind the desk that said something about providing our people with all the tools required to assist the people of the community! Bull bleep! If that is the case then I suggest a cashier on staff between 12 and 1 pm....Come on Kelowna, get with it the world does NOT revolve around you!
