I agree with the sentiments regarding the sunshine tax. I, too had to leave the Okanagan to gain education and a well paying job. I returned once I had established a career and thought the prospects would be different. I am highly trained with experience and a proven track record. I would like to own a condo here but I cannot find a job that will pay the mortgage and give me a living wage.
All the condos, great tax revenue for the city but not practical for people moving to Kelowna because they can't find jobs that will pay their mortgage.
I don't see a lot of high-rise apartments going up and these at least are more attractive to the young workers who cannot afford to buy a condo. If you want to attract a growing economy it must be attractive to those who will be around to grow businesses. Pay them and they will come.
