Dear Cop
In a pedestrian controlled intersection, is it legal to go through the red light once the pedestrian has crossed and the intersection is clear?
Answer From Dear Cop
Section 129 of the BC Motor vehicle Act is quite clear that when any red traffic control light is exhibited you must come to a complete stop before the crosswalk and you must not cause your vehicle to proceed until the traffic control signal instructs the driver to proceed. Failure to comply will result in a fine of $167 and 2 points.
