In response to Brandie Lee Paquette's story yesterday "I want to go home", she tells that she traveled here from Ontario for a job that ultimately wasn't there. Now she and her husband are homeless and he panhandles. My question is did they come to BC with absolutely no money to live on before she started her "job"?
When they realized that there was no job, and they couldn't get a job, why did they "choose" to stay? Apparently they have been here for more than seven months because she states that they have been homeless since March! Now they want the taxpayers of Kelowna to support them or send them back to Ontario!
All this because of their "choice' to remain in our city with no job or no way to support themselves. I am tired of all these people coming to Kelowna with only the shirts on their backs and then whining that they can't get a job and want us, the taxpayers to support them. Why? I would never leave home without enough money to sustain myself, if I were to do any sort of traveling. That's just common sense!
I am sorry that these people came here with the hopes of having a job. However, since they obviously are not going to be getting one in this city, instead of panhandling and whining about how badly they are being treated, then phone home. Why should you get a free ride because of your bad choices? Borrow the money for a bus or plane ticket from family & friends and go home! Actually Westjet has deals on one way to Ontario, so for $199 you can fly home. Enjoy the flight.
