No More Alcohol Taxes

I am strictly opposed to upping the taxes on alcohol so that those of us who enjoy it and use it RESPONSIBLY are paying for the addictions of other people.

Alcoholics choose to become alcoholics and if they kill themselves in the process, so be it, even a child can tell when they are getting into something that they may not be able to get out of.

It is time for Canadians to be held accountable for their actions, and responsible for dealing with their own problems.

Tax payers and responsible working people should not have to pay even more for something that a small percentage of the population chooses to abuse.

129 Australians were saved with 8 million dollars? This is our government's idea of reasonable expenditure? We are shutting down women's shelters, cutting funding for non-profit organizations and losing programs that help people that are really in need and we want to waste 8 million dollars on our drunk population?

I sincerely hope that I am not the only person who feels that this is a huge waste of funding when there are so many worthwhile programs that could use a boost to help increase their cash flow.

Alcoholism is a disease, yes I agree, but should the sober population be taxed to help them out, no way!

They created their own monsters, let them deal with them and keep our government's money where it belongs, helping people who deserve it.

J.B.
