Paper straws not enough

Re. Court fight over plastics ban (Castanet, Aug. 10)

Many coffee shops are using paper straws for cold drinks, but still have plastic cups to go with them.

I don’t love the idea of paper in beverages but I think the idea is moot if you’re using plastic cups as well.

Also, in the article it says there is an argument for teaching people to properly dispose of plastic, but that’s been happening for years.

What’s going to change in the next few years with people throwing away plastic because they don’t want to clean the yogurt cup or what ever it may be?
