I must admit, I really enjoyed watching the Olympics these past weeks. It was the first time I ever took a 'real' interest in the athletes, their performance and final results. However, as I watched the closing ceremonies, I couldn't help but feel sad. For some reason, Olympic hosting cities and the world can come up with the funds to finance such a phenomenal event and ceremony yet, we can't seem to eliminate hunger from the world.
I am not a 'granola' or a religious humanitarian geek however, this troubled me... just an average person wondering "what is wrong with our priorities?" I can't imagine a parent choosing to take their child to attend a costly sports event over putting food on their table if it comes down to their last $5. Why do we have different priorities when it comes to the world and its residents?
