Consequences For Actions

In regards to the letter in Wednesdays letter section about the dog trapped in the car. First of all, hats off to the good hearted lady who made sure that this poor animal made it out of the car. My father and I have both been in similar condition and on both occasions have either gone into the business where the dog was and found the owner or in my fathers case, he smashed the window himself and let the poor dog out.

The fact that there may not be charges laid makes me sick. If that had been a child in the car and the moronic parent had "fallen asleep", they would have been charged with negligence or worse. The fact that this was a dog, man's best friend, should make this scenario no different and the owner should be charged and never allowed to own a pet again. Pit Bulls are wonderful, loving dogs unless they fall into the wrong hands, and I'm sorry but this loser hardly sounds like the type of person that should be allowed to raise such an animal.

Let's start punishing these people for their negligence and maybe these instances would stop. Every summer this is an issue and as long as people get away with it, it always will be. Where are animal rights at work in this case? The RCMP in Kelowna should make an example of these people and they should be reprimanded in a way that will speak to the other stupid pet owners.
