Castanet Pay Idea Bad

Are you kidding?!?!

Not only would I not even remotely consider paying a $60.00 per year subscription fee to access "the bulk" of Castanet news content, as an advertiser I would be, and am now, far less likely to select your medium as one through which to advertise my business. Why would I consider advertising somewhere where fewer people visit due to your fee for a service that is so readily available for free elsewhere? As it is I recall your advertising rates seemed high compared to other advertising mediums that clearly have a higher cost of operation than you claim to. I have a business website that costs me no more than a few dollars a day to operate. How possibly could your operational costs be so high compared to, for example, The Kelowna Dailey Courier that you need to a third of what they do when they deliver their service in the form of a physical product, that has comparatively HUGE production costs, to my front door.

If your "page visits" has increased so substantially over the last year you should go to your advertisers and suggest that your advertising rates might be increased. Although, were you to approach me with such claims, I would be skeptical. How do you prove page visit numbers? Page visits? Unique Visitors? I know my own website is difficult to translate in that regard.

Sorry folks, but you have lost a lot of credibility in my eyes by having the audacity to even ask such a question. So much so that I am very seriously considering omitting your slow loading, currently free, site as my home page. On the other hand if the (at the time of this writing) 63 positive responses, representing a prospective $3,780 in annual revenues works for you, go to it. I on the other hand I look at the 1,677 negative responses as a clear indication that, should you opt for this plan, yours is not the place for me to ever consider advertising, let alone personally visiting.

The only, and very small, niche market I see buying into this proposal is Kelowna residents living elsewhere in the world wanting to keep in touch with what is going on here. The Vancouver Sun, in that regard, would have a larger client base as, most certainly, would CNN.

I honestly can't believe you would even consider what you propose?!?! http://www.welcometokelowna.com here I come!
