Nice society we live in - now we have a cat killer on the loose. Will this be what it takes to get cat owners to finally keep their cats on their own property, whether it be indoors or a penned off area? It may not sound nice but let's get realistic - a lot of people hate cats simply because they come across like sneaky scavengers who seem to be in everyone's yard but their own. HOWEVER - the cat will only do what it is permitted to do, therefore, the owner is the one people should be addressing.
The average cat that people have these days for pets, is NOT a wild animal. Don't give me the speech about how they have to roam free. These cats are domesticated and will adapt to the safe environment that the owner should be providing. We hear how pets are part of the family - would you let your child or any other defenseless member aimlessly roam the neighborhood and just hope for the best?
I remember when dogs used to be able to roam all over. If we want to go with the 'wild animal' theory, dogs used to be very wild, ran in packs. But that was stopped and dogs have adapted just fine. So why is it okay for cats?
And now we have a real sick cat hater out there. Hmm, do you think the person was kind enough to put the cat down before cutting its head off? Doubt it - chances are pretty good it was alive, I'm thinking. So then we also have torture.
People need to start thinking about what is best for the SAFETY and well being of their beloved cat. Snap out of the old ways of thinking and take some more responsibility.
And by the way - I DO adore cats. And I have a hard time understanding the owners who risk letting their pets meet such a horrible death.
