To the editor:
So I went out to check my mail Friday as I do every day after work. Ya know, after 5 pm when the average person arrives home from work to see a notice in my mail box...
"Please be advised that due to construction in your area and the safety of our letter carriers we will be suspending mail delivery in this area."
That is fine, I understand and support that but this is the part that gets me...
"Your mail will be held free of charge at Rutland post office. Your mail can be picked up Monday to Friday between the hours of 9 am to 12:00 pm."
First off, it had better be free of charge because it is not my fault that my road looks like a third world country under fire.
Second, 9 am to 12:00 pm? I work! I have a full-time job downtown and how in the heck am I supposed to make it to Rutland during those hours? I leave for work at 7:30 am and I am lucky if I am home before 5:30 pm. Give me a break! At least make the hours so that a normal working person can go and pick up their mail.
