I'd like to comment about the very fine letter written to you by RD regarding the city's council seeming total disregard for it own official plan and the concerns as expressed by a growing number of affected residents opposed to that development.
First of all, the letter is one of the best in articulating is the crux of the matter, that of official opposition to the proposed changes. Though I am not directly affected by whatever development occurs in that area - I live on Dilworth - I can empathize with those that are. Indeed, the very same could be said for those persons living out towards Lake Country and that specific development. If this city. through its councilors, is so hell bent on ignoring what certainly involved a lot of work and study, then why bother having any official plan in the first place?
Yes, no plan is carved in stone in perpetuity and yes, some re-work and amendments will occur from time to time. But,it is the apparent total disregard that bothers me in this instance a disregard that may strike at my own neighbourhood sometime in the future. In that matter, we should all be concerned.
I'd suggest that all persons of interest, whether living in the area or not, keep a keen watch on which of the councilors voted in favour to allow such a violation and act accordingly at the next municipal election.
Good luck to all the Sarson's residents. Don't give up the fight.
