We have lived in Kelowna since 1967 and feel we could not have found a better place to raise our family.
Our concern is that in the last few years, it appears obvious we are losing ground on our infrastructure and housing. We just have to go for a drive around the Central Okanagan area to see we are losing our grip on the highways and congestion. We are putting up a new bridge, but tearing down the old one. We are starting to see congestion like never before, and doing very little to handle it.
New subdivisions are popping up all over the place with real concerns about water supply and some of the roads are so narrow that they can be deemed hazardous. As an example, in the Wilden subdivision, if there are cars parked along the street, try getting a fire truck through. Who passed that ?
We elect politicians to guide us through these matters into the future years. It looks like our politicians at all levels are so busy getting their pictures taken and getting publicity, they are forgetting that we have hired them to do a job. Does being a politician mean common sense is now not important? I think most of the people I know would rather have less politics and more common sense.
