Skipping immigration line

In 1976 I came to Canada as a journeyman electrician from the U.K. having jumped through so many hoops to qualify as a landed immigrant.

I and my family had to have clean health records. I had to have a guaranteed job to go to. This in writing from my new employer. With even more guarantees that I would not burden the Canadian people.

On arriving at the job, I was informed I had 30 days to prove myself or I would be sent back home, (not true) but scary.

I got my 30 days in and stayed with the company until retirement after 24years. We lived very happily, integrated and made many friends and stayed for another 10 years before moving south.

My family and I did not qualify for Canadian citizenship for five years after we landed, and in 1981 we received our certificates.

If all immigrants followed the established rules of entry into Canada, Max Bernier and the PPC would not have to bring the electorate's attention to the flagrant abuse of the system by this Liberal government, allowing would-be  Canadians to trek through the U.S. and just walk into Canada through the back door.

This government then gives these illegals allowances from our taxes while they are awaiting hearings. We do not owe them a thing.

This country needs immigrants. But on Canada's terms, for the benefit of all Canadians

Ron Lovell, Vernon
