Be a responsible pet owner

The City of Vernon website states Marshall Fields activities include baseball, basketball, dog park, soccer and tennis.

All of these are acceptable uses of the field. It is a public facility that should be respected by all parties who chose to use it.  

Dogs are solely the responsibility of their owner. Wild animals are beyond the control of human reason. 

Ultimately, the disrespect of irresponsible pet ownership has created the stigma of "I guess it's just a matter of time before an irresponsible pet owner unleashes their dog and one of the 3,000 children or adults using the fields is affected."

Unfortunately, the highest percentage of fatalities due to dog attacks happens to those 12 years old and younger.  

Please be a responsible pet owner. Register your pet. Clean up after it. Have your pet professionally trained. 

Prevent this stigma from propagating.
