No way to treat seniors

When I read the article about seniors getting eviction notices, I was disgusted and saddened. This is how our seniors are treated in B.C., with a complete lack of respect and compassion.

If they were criminals in prison or drug addicts needing safe place to inject their drugs, they would be accommodated and given the opportunity to be safe and cared for. But no, they are just seniors who have spent their entire lives paying taxes, caring for children, working hard, so this is how they are treated – and at Christmas!

Not only that, it does not sound like Associated Property Management is even following the rules of the Residential Tenancy Act, as "eviction" is not the first step in a dispute.

On top of that, many of these residents had proof their rent had been paid. The property manager should be fired.

The provincial and local governments need to start protecting our seniors. Remember, not everyone is rich (as rent in Kelowna dictates you must be), and someday we will all be seniors, perhaps living on a fixed income.

Remember, these are our parents and grandparents. Start showing some appreciation, love and respect for all the sacrifices they made so that the rest of you could have the life you lead.

Shame on Legacy Towers and Associated Property Management.
