Our beautiful city played host to over 400 Liberals from across the province and some special guests from across the country.
It was an energizing and engaging conference, allowing the grassroots of the party to connect, network, and develop relationships that will be critical going into the 2019 federal election.
Without getting into the nuts and bolts of policy discussions and platforms, it does bear mentioning that two of Kelowna’s own were real stars at the event and truly energized the crowd.
Mayor Colin Basran spoke passionately about our great city and our efforts to reduce homelessness, combat climate change, and move forward with a positive vision for the future. MP Stephen Fuhr also provided energy to the room by talking about the efforts of the federal government to grow our economy while protecting B.C.’s environment, which is something that we in this province show a special leadership and interest in, and it is a point of pride that we are able to do so.
We are fortunate here in Kelowna to have this type of strong leadership at the federal and municipal levels.
There is a lot of common interest shared by government and citizens alike, and I hope that many who supported Mayor Basran’s re-election will be turning out in similar numbers to send Stephen Fuhr back to Ottawa next year.
