Let's hear it for Fuhr

Like many Liberal supporters in Kelowna-Lake Country, I was happy to read the news that our member of Parliament, Stephen Fuhr, has been acclaimed to stand as the Liberal candidate for the riding in the 2019 federal election.

He has worked tirelessly on behalf of his constituents since being elected in 2015, bringing in over $100 million in new infrastructure and investments. Additionally, the Veterans Affairs office in Kelowna was reopened, bringing service to nearly 30,000 people in our region that have served our great country.

This acclamation is just the first step as Fuhr prepares for his re-election campaign. There is still a lot of hard work to be done to continue earning and maintaining the trust of Kelowna-Lake Country's citizens. There are many big-picture issues facing Canadians, and Fuhr is a respected voice at the table in Ottawa.

Whether it is in his capacity as chair of the Standing Committee on National Defence, providing feedback from the local small business community after proposed tax changes would have affected our region, or as one of 18 Liberal MP's in B.C. who are providing feedback to the federal government balancing our environmental responsibilities with our commitment to a strong economy on issues such as the Trans Mountain pipeline expansion, Fuhr is on top of the issues and provides excellent representation.

I look forward to the ongoing lively discussions with Canadians on these issues and more.

The people of our riding are well informed and engaged in our democratic process. Regardless of your political stripes, anybody who has had the opportunity to connect with Fuhr about the issues can walk away knowing that their voice is heard and respected.

I believe that his accomplishments thus far have earned him the opportunity to seek another mandate from the people Kelowna-Lake Country, and hopefully he will be part of a returned LIberal majority government in 2019.
