This letter is in response to the “Women Betray Trust” letter submitted by M.B.
M.B. stated that Starleigh Grass “implied” that men do not deserve to have an opinion on abortion. I wasn’t in attendance at the candidate’s forum but I’m certain that Starleigh Grass did not announce that men do not deserve to have an opinion on abortion. That idea is preposterous. Men are certainly entitled to their opinion on whatever it is that interests them, I’m certain that any politician would agree.
M.B. wondered where his “right to choose” was and felt that he had fewer rights because he was a man.
His right to choose occurred before conception.
It is unfortunate that M.B. was placed in his position, but I’m curious as to how he found himself there in the first place. I believe that men and women should evaluate where they stand on the issue before pregnancy occurs and become proactive in the matter & hold strong to their beliefs. If you don’t believe in abortion, wear a condom. If you wish to choose parenthood, communicate these desires with your partner and make a mutual decision.
Starleigh Grass had an excellent comment. The right to choose will be between a woman & her doctor, not a woman and her MP.
