BC polluting the Prairies

Many people in British Columbia have spoken out about the pipelines, opposing them, referencing unproven studies that conclude pipelines are bad for the environment.

The delays caused by the righteous in B.C. have cost Alberta, Saskatchewan and the rest of the country billions.
They say it is about the rights of the people of B.C., the legacy for future generations. Yet, the reports are theoretical only. Pipeline spills in Canada have historically been well attended and their impact minimal.

The facts are blurred.

The regulations for pipelines are hundreds of times more stringent than they were 25 years ago, now that a company is bonded and required to clean up and to ensure safety. They are held accountable – and they should be.

Well, here in Saskatchewan, I am coughing, my pets are coughing, my vehicle and my home smell like smoke, billions of dollars in damages are occurring right now because the people of B.C. do not have stringent forest firefighting policies.

The budget is laughable and the commitment atrocious.

Why shouldn't every citizen of British Columbia be held to the same standard they hold pipeline companies to? The negligence is unforgivable. If an oil company undertook this much pollution, they would be put out of business.

The pollution is apocalyptic and should never have occurred. The people of B.C. are not responsible caretakers of the land.

Where is your action to prevent pollution like this? Where are your protests over the inaction of your government? Where is your concern for the health of the rest of Canada that you so boldly push on us as you oppose pipelines?

Do you only care for yourselves? Is the greater good only a reality if made by you?

David Greenwood, Saskatchewan
