Kudos for coming forward

I read the report that the Glenmore wildfire was accidentally set by two young males.

I understand they came forward about their involvement and act of carelessness.

I would like to commend these young individuals for having the maturity and sense of responsibility to own their mistake and report it.

Too often, I see not just young people, but adults, acting so irresponsibly and selfishly.

The incidence of hit and runs with vehicle vs vehicle/pedestrian or bicycle comes to mind.

These are situations where you made a mistake, but you only compound it by fleeing and trying to protect your own skin. Other people's lives are at stake.

We need to be more accountable to each other.

Kudos to these young men for showing a level of integrity and responsibility that is sorely missing in much of today's society. While they may be in deep trouble for playing with fire, there is a bright side to this story.
