Is Center of Gravity festival worth it? In a word, Yes!
To the writer who only saw two officers, I saw a couple of unmarked cruisers parked at the fence, sheriffs, and a lot of security around the grounds. I did not enter, so this was just my view passing by.
Drug use, while it is an unfortunate activity that many partake in, not all attendees take drugs.
If security was anything close to some other festivals I have attended, they do look for drugs and smuggled alcohol. People can find unique ways to still slip in with it. I don’t think it is fair to target the organizers to say they should have done a better job.
I was saddened to read of the death of a young woman at the festival. However, that is not enough to stop the world from turning and shut everything down.
I am proud our city and surrounding communities' work to support these events, and in turn we see the increased economic benefits from them. I hope to see COG return again another year.
