Go one-way downtown

The traffic and noise in the downtown area, especially between May and September is horrendous.

The noise of revving motorcycles that have their mufflers modified, and of older cars, makes it a very stressful visit when it should be relaxing.

Some motorcyclists purposely rev their bikes to set off car alarms along the way. Where are our bylaw officers? I love walking around downtown, but it gets frustrating when all I hear are revving motors, especially when sitting down for a “quiet” coffee at one of the outside cafes.

To keep traffic moving slowly and quietly, how about a change on Bernard, from Mill Street to Richter, to one way? Why are only two streets downtown one way (Lawrence and Leon)?

Change those back to two-way traffic and create a one-way on Bernard. This would make a much nicer visit downtown as it slows traffic and creates a quieter experience.

Residents might not like it at first, but would learn how much better this would be in the long run. I lived in a smaller community in the Lower Mainland where the downtown area was changed to one way, and it worked out beautifully.
