The recent increase is not near high enough, I have watched people texting and start to drive right into oncoming turning traffic. It is proven that it is a much a larger issue than drunk driving.
Some people pay the fines and just carry on texting. I wonder who the genius was who came up with the increase of $740.00? Why not make it an even $1,000 and impound the car for 3 days like drunk driving to get the message across.
Do not forget these are only the drivers who get caught!
