Corrupt at all levels

Why we have poor voter turn out.

Here we are again heading into another provincial election in B.C. and I have to say something about this seeming lack of duty that sixty percent of the people in this province ignore at election time. Excuses such as “there’s no one to vote for,” or my favourite, “my vote will make no difference”.

Canadians do realize that, from Federal all the way to Municipal, the tax payer is their favourite whipping post. If they need more money, they raise taxes or raid one of the Crown corporations.

One thing politicians care less about are people who feel left out, such as the working poor, homeless, or the unemployed. They are counting on you not to vote.

Just remember, your vote does count and you do have the power to make a change. In B.C. we go to the polls May 9th. And some things to consider that will affect you and loved ones are listed below please vote for the person who has your best interest at heart, whether they are independent or a party:

  • A whole generation of high school grads that are missing basic life skills, you cannot  teach in overcrowded classrooms
  • A monopoly running our basics of life. If you do not like our gas or electricity rates, then go without heat or starve.
  • Homeless. Problem is getting bigger.
  • Working poor. “See homeless above.“ If you’re working for minimum wage you should be able to live on it.
  • Seniors. Again, if you are on the basic pension you should be able to live on it.

These are just some of the issues that should be talked about in this provincial election, but I see very little debate on them and I do know there many more issues, but the ones listed have a profound impact on families.

Please get out and vote.

Gary Bonner
