'Civil servants'

Reading all these letters dealing with the upcoming election, I really don’t know where all this is going.

Each of these letters have good points, however, they don’t seem to work.

The one letter I like most is the “None of the above”. The only problem with that one that I could see – it might get the most votes, but other than that, nothing has been achieved.

I do remember a time when Government employees have been “civil servants”. In those days they got paid less than private sector employees and the people who took those jobs seemed to have some kind of pride. But that pride is all gone today and has been replaced by greed and arrogance. Now they are paid more, have more benefits, have more holidays, and so on. The only time they actually talk to us is the time of re-election.

I said they will talk to us, however, it does not mean they are listening.

This multiple party system does not work. We have seen it over and over. One party runs the Province while the others criticize everything they are doing and never come up with a better solution until election time, and then immediately forget what it was the very next day.

I do not have a solution, and the way it looks, nobody else has one either.

It is not a BC problem, it’s a world wide one (with very few exceptions maybe). And that is the sad part of it all.
