Minimum wage

It's a joke what the minimum wage is in BC. Most jobs that are held by people that get paid minimum wage work for big companies that make millions.

This is the Government helping the rich. The rich run the Government. That's the bottom line. So sick.

The cost of living is so outrageous, some people have to chose weather to pay rent or eat. Obviously they have to pay their bills or they are homeless. It just seem that the Government ignores the fact that their are a lot of people on poverty line, and they don't or won't acknowledge this.

I guess when you’re wealthy you can't see the forest for the trees!

Minimum wage was never meant to be a liveable income. It was a stepping stone for youngsters/first time employees to learn the art of the work force, to move up the ladder to bigger and better incomes.

Wendy's chains are automating over 1,000 stores in the US, because of the minimum wage increase. Some Edmonton McDonalds are already using this system.

Be careful what you wish forever, you just may become unemployed.

Something a lot of people don't realize is that a server has to tip out a percentage of the whole bill to cooks, hostesses and bartenders. So when you don't tip or cheap tip, it can cost them money to serve you. If you don't like something, talk to the manager.

I know that a lot of people are happy with the coming increase in minimum wage. I do have friends who own their own businesses, and if the wage goes up even more, the owners will have to cut shifts.

So, those that are lucky enough to 'keep their jobs', will have to work a lot harder to cover for those that got their hours cut or also, possibly lost their job.  Is the stress really worth the extra 50 cents an hour?

I also have friends who have been 'let go' because the company can't afford to pay them now from past minimum wage increases.

Good luck to everyone!
