Transit strike agreement

We are pleased that First Canada and Amalgamated Transit Union Local 1722 have reached an agreement to restore bus service in Kelowna.

Every day, thousands of people rely on public transit. They use it to commute to work or school, reach appointments, and connect with family and friends. For many, a service disruption is more than an inconvenience; it’s an obstacle they can’t overcome. We hope today’s agreement means the people of Kelowna can rely on uninterrupted service for years to come.

Our government’s commitment to putting British Columbians first  means that communities with as few as 1,000 people have access to public transit, making BC Transit a unique service for smaller communities in Canada. That’s why the provincial government continues to provide the highest level of transit operating funding, per capita, anywhere in Canada.
