Very Canadian

I grew up with “The Maple Leaf Forever”. Sang it in school, sports games and at social occasions. But since the '50s I only hear it from the odd pipe band, what a shame.

I always thought the reason for its demise was the exclusion of the fleur de lis in the line "the thistle, shamrock, rose entwine the maple leaf forever.”

I have always spoken positively about the song and have taught it to my three sons.

I was born in Canada (76 years ago) and very proud of my heritage. I always loved to hear "The Maple Leaf Forever" as it is very Canadian.
